Malleswaram is one of the areas in Bangalore where there are many temples.
Venkoji Rao, brother of Chathrapathi Shivaji, had a divine dream wherein Lord Shiva told him to build a temple. While searching, he found a small hillock, where he saw the Udbhava Murthy of Lord Shiva and in that place he built a temple, which is today's Kaadu Malleswara Temple. It is from this temple the place got its name "Malleswaram".
There is another small hillock next to Kaadu Malleswara temple, and it was here the Udbhava Murthy of Lord Sri Narasimha Swamy was discovered.
Narasimha avatara has great significance and importance. It was an instant avatara, where the Lord appears in a very ferocious form. This avatara was taken to prove the words of His devotee, Prahlada, who said "THOONILUM IRUPPAAR THURUMBILUM IRUPPAAR" and proved His omnipresence. HE is the 'Great Protector' who defends and protects his devotees in times of need.
We were blessed by HIM to visit the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha temple on the Narasimha Jayanthi day this year (5.5.2012). It was a pleasurable experience. There was a long queue, outside the temple, and devotees were standing to have a glimpse of Lord Narasimha. The roads had a festive look. All sides of the temple walls were illuminated. The street and roads were also illuminated.

There is a belief that incurable diseases will be cured and the evil spirits will be driven out and all our desires will be fulfilled by the Lord AT ONCE and He doesn't say tomorrow if one surrenders to HIM. "நாளை என்பதே நரஸிம்மனிடத்தில் இல்லை".
We had a very good darshan and while coming out I felt like Nammazhwar.

Coming out from the sanctum sanctorum, on the right side of the main hall is Anjaneyar sannidhi and adjacent to that is the Utsava moorthy with His consorts and azhwaars, acharyans sannidhi. Beautiful idols are sculpted on the outer prakaram. There is one Mandapam and madapalli also. The temple is cleanly maintained.

Some more captures of the temples nearby. Just opposite to Lakshminarasimha temple is another temple called Dakshina Mukhi Eswara Temple where water comes from Nandi's mouth and falls on the Shivalinga. It is said that no one knows the origin of this water. The holy water is carried home by the devotees and is believed to cure many diseases and ailments.
